Job 1:6-7; John 12:31; Revelation 12:7-9, 12
When did satan permanently lose access to heaven? 🤔💡
Recall in Job’s story that satan still had access to heaven despite having already lost the battle with Michael and the good angels, and deceived a third of the angels who were banished with him to earth (Rev 12:7-9; Job 1:6-7). This has always had me puzzled. 🤷🏾♂️ I also suspect that the lying spirit that came forward in heaven that it’ll go become a lying Spirit to Ahab, was also satan (1 Kings 22:20-22).
But Jesus addresses this in John 12:31, just before His crucifixion. With satan finally having shown his true intention to the host of heaven and the world i.e. to kill the Son of God, satan permanently lost access to the presence of God. He was “cast out”!
God is so loving that even despite satan’s deception in heaven, he still had some direct access to God’s presence as the ruler of earth. But when the evil in his heart became fully manifest by crucifying the son of God, he permanently lost that access. Christ drew all men unto Himself and redeemed us from the clutches of evil. Satan now has but a little time before Christ’s second coming when he and all traits of evil will be permanently wiped out (Rev 12:12). 🙌🏾🙏🏾
