COVID, Russia/Ukraine, recession…does the Bible have a say?

Over the past three years i.e. since 2020, the world has faced two epic shocks that no one predicted - the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, and the Russia/Ukraine crisis in early 2022. In this note, I look at some of the important mega trends that these shocks have accelerated. Specifically, I highlight how these shocks seem to affect almost all countries in similar ways, leading to similar responses. Also, how these shocks are driving more cohesion by world leaders and peoples in how they deal with what they consider to be a shared problem. What is really happening? What could it imply for your money? And does the Bible have anything to say about all this?

Comparing God’s salvation of Noah and Lot – Both righteous but different 🙏🏾

Noah and Lot were both saved by God before destruction was visited on the whole earth and on Sodom. But what are the similarities and differences we can find from the Bible about these two stories to help us get a clearer picture of the state of humanity and even righteous people in the end times? This study is critical because the Bible points back to Noah and Lot so many times that we Christians must study these stories in-depth and have them at the forefront of our minds as we navigate these end times.

In fact, Rebekah’s deceptive spirit was so deeply engrained in her heart that when Jacob worried that his father could find out about their trick, she said “Let your curse be upon me, my son...” 😮 I therefore wondered where she could have picked up this terrible heart of deception from. 🤔

Israel’s three great enemies: The Moabites, Ammonites and Edomites. Where did they come from?

The Moabites and Ammonites were children born out of deceit to Lot, cousin of Abraham. The Edomites were descendants of Esau. These three tribes - Moabites, Ammonites and Edomites - are mentioned repeatedly in the Bible, often as a duo or triumvate, in different attacks on the Israelites. What’s also interesting is that these enemies descended from marriage relations that were against God’s instructions!

The risk of working with evil/ungodly bosses/people

The risk of working with eviil/ungodly bosses/people is that you could jointly suffer in their punishment, particularly when you connive with them. When we however choose to fear God amidst all the wrong-doing that surrounds us, we will be saved! 😇 These soldiers of King Ahaziah (son of Ahab & Jezebel) were burnt to death … Continue reading The risk of working with evil/ungodly bosses/people
