Why is God so concerned about his children marrying unbelievers?

Apparently there’s a long-time history lesson here.

In Genesis 6:2-4, sons of God therein were the children from the lineage of Seth (keeping purity of God’s truth), while sons of men were of the lineage of Cain (evil men, contaminating God’s truth). NB: after Cain killed Abel, Seth was Adam’s next son, who was good in character, just like Abel.

It wasn’t God’s intention for them to mingle in marriage at all. But as they did, they did even more evil. The people got so bad so quickly (within just 2,000 yrs since creation) that nobody was saved from the flood (as they didn’t heed the warning) except Noah’s family and animals. 😐 The Israelites after leaving Egypt were also warned against intermarrying with the neighboring tribes but they also disobeyed. 🤦🏾‍♂️

Talk about evil company corrupting good manners. Today those who believe in God are “spiritual Israel” and this principle/warning from God since time immemorial still holds valid as restated in 2 Cor 6:14 – “Do not be unequally bound together with unbelievers [do not make mismatched alliances with them, inconsistent with your faith]. For what partnership can righteousness have with lawlessness? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?” 💡

Man’s natural inclination is to gravitate towards evil, worldly attractions, and not God. Doubling up by marrying an unbeliever potentially torpedoes one away from God. This God and His word really do not change! 🙌🏾🙏🏾
