How to ‘suffer in the flesh’ for Christ

1 Peter 4:1 To suffer in the flesh for Christ is to die to sin i.e. subduing our carnal/sinful desires completely to the power of the Holy Spirit, living out the will of God. The “sufferings of Christ” means going God’s way when our mind, emotions, or physical senses are beckoning us to go the … Continue reading How to ‘suffer in the flesh’ for Christ

God sees and always rewards both our good and bad works

Exodus 32:11-14; 1 Kings 12:28-30; 2 Kings 10:29-33; 2 Kings 20:1-6 Jehu was so on fire for God that he obeyed completely God’s instructions to wipe out Ahab’s family, friends and relatives, Jezebel and baal worship and its worshipers in Israel. For this, God promised Jehu that his sons shall sit on the throne of … Continue reading God sees and always rewards both our good and bad works

Can a son bear the sins of the father or vice versa? Does faith void the law?

Can a son bear the sins of the father or vice versa? No, every man for himself. What of a wicked person, how is he saved? If he turns from all the sins he has committed, keeps all God’s commandments and does what is lawful and right, none of his sins will be remembered against him. 🙌🏾 What of the righteous person who later sins? All the righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered because of his unfaithfulness. But aren’t we now under the new covenant, no longer under the “law”? Aren’t we now saved by grace through faith in God alone?! All these works...🙄 So can’t we expect to make it to heaven by just believing in Jesus even if we aren’t 100% in obedience to His commandments? 🤷🏾‍♂️😒

Generational curses – what the Bible says

Exodus 20:5-6 are the oft quoted verses where God talks about curses on the father flowing through to the children to the third and fourth generation. Indeed there are multiple examples through the Bible where generations after the one that sinned paid the price for historical sins. But limiting our understanding of these verses to this explanation would be inconsistent with the rest of the Bible. Ezekiel 18:20 and Deut 24:16 specifically say that the son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father or vice versa. As the Bible doesn’t contradict itself, there’s more to study.

How do those who pierced Jesus (who are dead) see Him when He comes in the clouds?

Daniel 12:2; Mark 14:61-62; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 1:7 How do those who pierced Jesus (who are dead) see Him when He comes in the clouds? When He comes in the clouds, which is the second coming, the righteous dead are supposed to rise from the dead - 1 Thess 4:16-17. 🤷🏾‍♂️ The evil dead plus … Continue reading How do those who pierced Jesus (who are dead) see Him when He comes in the clouds?

Why is God so concerned about his children marrying unbelievers?

Apparently there’s a long-time history lesson here. In Genesis 6:2-4, sons of God therein were the children from the lineage of Seth (keeping purity of God’s truth), while sons of men were of the lineage of Cain (evil men, contaminating God’s truth). NB: after Cain killed Abel, Seth was Adam’s next son, who was good … Continue reading Why is God so concerned about his children marrying unbelievers?

Should you just pray and count the stars while waiting for God’s move?

The more I understood Prov 16:3 & 9 and lined it up with other verses in scripture, the more confident I got in Christ. Simply said, we are responsible for making a plan for our lives and God will direct our steps in how we achieve it, as long as our plan is in accordance … Continue reading Should you just pray and count the stars while waiting for God’s move?

Understanding the former and latter rains

What do the former and latter rains mean? The former rain refers to the initial rain that is needed for seeds to grow while the latter rain refers to the rain that comes just before the sickle is applied to the harvest. In other words, the latter rain comes to ripen the plant and prepare it for its harvest. This process/concept is well understood in agriculture and often used in the Bible, but has even deeper spiritual meaning for us. 🤓

Repenting like David

Despite what we know about David's sins, why does God still say David kept His commandments, followed Him with all his heart and did only what was right in God’s eyes? 🤔 We know that in addition to David’s sin in sleeping with the wife (Bathsheba) of a trusted soldier, he also counted his army in attempt to feed his ego which angered God. These sins led to the death of Bathsheba’s first son and the unnecessary death of 70,000 Israelites. Clearly, David sinned and was punished; so, why does God still view him this way?
